The Our Place – Youth Fund, part of the Do it For East Yorkshire (DIFEY) scheme and funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is now accepting applications for new youth initiatives. The fund has previously awarded £85,000 across 18 projects delivered by community groups, charities, and youth organizations. In this new round, up to £65,000 is available, with grants ranging from £1,500 to £5,000 per organization, or up to £10,000 for small capital projects. Applications are open until 12 noon on Monday, 5 January 2026.
The fund supports community groups, charities, and youth projects across East Riding in delivering new or expanded activities that benefit young people. It aligns with the council’s youth agenda, which focuses on children and young people aged 10–19, care leavers up to 25, and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Funded projects are guided by the five pillars of youth work: educative, expressive, participative, inclusive, and empowering.
Eligible organizations include constituted voluntary and community groups, registered charities, not-for-profit companies, community interest companies, youth groups, and faith-based organizations. Grants can be used for a variety of youth-focused projects. Previous recipients include Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre, Lund Village Hall, Goole Youth Action, and Fuse Youth Service. Councillor Anne Handley highlighted the council’s commitment to supporting communities and encouraging organizations to apply.
Applicants are advised to clearly outline their project needs and provide quotes for items over £500. Applications should focus on project outcomes rather than promoting the organization itself. For support or guidance, applicants can contact the council’s funding team. Additional resources on governance, event management, and funding opportunities are available through local council support services and community funding support websites.
