Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, has announced €1.7 million in funding for projects under the 2025 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund. The initiative aims to promote inclusion, protect rights, and improve the quality of life and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ individuals across Ireland, ensuring their full participation in social, economic, cultural, and political life.
A total of 43 LGBTIQ+ community-based projects will receive grants of up to €100,000 each. These projects span national, regional, and local levels and will provide vital supports such as counselling, youth services, community outreach, and Pride celebrations. Minister Foley highlighted that the growing interest in the fund over the past five years reflects Ireland’s strong community commitment to supporting LGBTIQ+ persons.
The announcement aligns with the government’s National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II 2024–2028, which focuses on ensuring equality, safety, and participation for LGBTIQ+ people. The strategy’s core pillars—Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Participation and Inclusion, and Equality and Non-Discrimination—seek to address ongoing challenges and create a more inclusive society.
The 2025 funding call included two streams: Scheme A, providing grants between €25,000 and €100,000 for established LGBTIQ+ NGOs and community organisations to enhance or expand services; and Scheme B, offering smaller grants between €5,000 and €10,000 for projects that promote visibility and inclusion. The call for proposals ran from 27 June to 30 July 2025.
Overall, the 2025 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund represents a key component in implementing Ireland’s inclusion strategy, reaffirming the government’s dedication to supporting LGBTIQ+ rights and community wellbeing nationwide.
