Save the Children and Qatar Charity have announced a new partnership aimed at delivering urgent relief to children and families affected by humanitarian emergencies in the Middle East and globally. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar, by Save the Children CEO Inger Ashing and Qatar Charity CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari. This collaboration marks a significant step toward expanding humanitarian and development initiatives that support vulnerable communities facing crises.
Under the agreement, both organizations will work together to design and implement programmes that address essential needs such as cash assistance, education, health, water and sanitation, food security, economic empowerment, social welfare, and child protection. The partnership begins with Qatar Charity contributing US$1 million to a US$2 million joint programme with Save the Children, which aims to support 2,133 vulnerable and conflict-affected families through multi-purpose cash assistance, helping them meet their most urgent needs.
Inger Ashing, CEO of Save the Children International, emphasized that the collaboration with Qatar Charity represents a major investment in improving the lives of children worldwide. She noted that the partnership will enhance the reach and impact of both organizations, particularly in responding rapidly to disasters and emergencies, ensuring that children can enjoy their rights and build a secure future.
Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, highlighted that the agreement reflects a strategic move to strengthen joint humanitarian action and broaden the impact of their work for children and vulnerable communities. He underscored that the partnership combines Qatar Charity’s experience with Save the Children’s global expertise to develop innovative and high-quality humanitarian programmes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and international standards.
