Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Harris welcomed the delivery of food aid to Gaza, supporting approximately 42,000 people. Over 8,400 parcels of nutritious food, provided by Plan International Ireland with support from Irish Aid, were transported by road, with each parcel sufficient for two meals a day for a family of five over five days.
The Tánaiste emphasized the severity of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and Ireland’s commitment to alleviating hunger and suffering. He highlighted the role of Plan International Ireland in ensuring the essential aid reached those in need and noted that while much more support is necessary, this delivery provides a critical lifeline for tens of thousands living in intolerable conditions.
This food aid delivery follows Ireland’s recent support in providing 750 family tents to people in Gaza. Overall, Ireland has contributed over €35 million to support Palestinians in 2025, bringing its total assistance since October 2023 to €89 million, reflecting its ongoing commitment to humanitarian relief in the region.
