The Australian Research Council (ARC) has allocated more than $22 million under the 2025 Round 1 ARC Linkage Projects scheme to support over 40 new collaborative research projects. The funding aims to strengthen partnerships among Australia’s researchers, industry, government, and communities, addressing key national priorities and promoting innovative, real-world solutions.
ARC Chief Executive Officer Professor Ute Roessner highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving meaningful outcomes. She emphasized that these projects will help strengthen industries, support communities, and secure Australia’s future through targeted, solution-driven research.
The funded initiatives cover a wide range of fields, from developing predictive computational tools for critical metals extraction and recycling to advancing bio-engineered carbon mineralisation and hydrogen production. Other projects will focus on regional migration strategies, educational practice, digital security, railway safety, agricultural technology, and workforce development, ensuring both immediate and long-term benefits for Australia’s innovation landscape.
