FIFA and Global Citizen have announced the establishment of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund Advisory Board, marking a major milestone in their mission to raise USD 100 million to increase access to education and football for children worldwide. The Fund, launched earlier this year, will support community-based education initiatives and football development programs for underserved children globally.
The advisory board consists of high-profile leaders from sports, entertainment, business and philanthropy. Spearheaded by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen Co-Founder Hugh Evans, it includes well-known figures such as Hugh Jackman, Ivanka Trump, The Weeknd, Shakira, Serena Williams, Kaká and Bank of America Co-President Jim DeMare. Their role will be to provide strategic guidance to ensure maximum reach and impact of the Fund.
Half of the funds raised will go toward grassroots education programmes in more than 200 countries, while the other half will support the FIFA Football for Schools Programme, implemented with UNESCO to promote life skills, education, and community development through football. The initiative also builds on the precedent of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, where USD 1 from every ticket sold was donated to the Fund, a contribution model that will continue during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Organizations working to deliver education and sports access for children in underserved communities can now apply for grants of up to USD 250,000, with the first round of grantees to be announced in early 2026. So far, over USD 30 million has been mobilized through early contributions and event proceeds, demonstrating strong momentum toward the Fund’s long-term goals.
Supporters emphasized that football has the power to drive opportunity, social inclusion, and global development. With expanding partnerships and growing financial support, the initiative aims to create meaningful and lasting improvements in children’s education and life prospects around the world.
