UNESCO and the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) have partnered to strengthen health and well-being education across Tanzania’s technical and tertiary institutions. The initiative aims to create safer, healthier, and more inclusive campuses by integrating life skills and health education into everyday learning, building on the successful rollout of UNESCO’s Education for Health and Well-being interventions in 26 higher education institutions and now extending to NACTVET-accredited colleges and vocational training centers.
Central to the collaboration is the introduction of a Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) online course, designed to help young people navigate campus life challenges and make informed decisions about their health and well-being. UNESCO will provide technical support to enhance institutional capacity for implementing evidence-based programs on health and well-being.
This initiative aligns with Tanzania’s education and health priorities and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4 on Quality Education. The program emphasizes the importance of creating a safe campus environment as a foundation for effective learning and holistic development.
Through this partnership, UNESCO and NACTVET are committed to building a generation of informed, resilient, and empowered young people. The program seeks to transform every campus in Tanzania into a safe space that protects, empowers, and inspires students, ensuring their health and personal growth are prioritized alongside academic achievement.
