The British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, together with Lebanon’s Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Saddi, officially launched Lebanon’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP 2025–2030) during the Lebanon Grand Energy Event 2025. The updated NREAP provides a strategic roadmap outlining the country’s renewable energy ambitions and implementation priorities for the coming years, marking a significant milestone in Lebanon’s energy transition.
Since 2024, the UK has partnered with the Lebanese Centre for Energy Conservation to provide technical support for updating the NREAP. This collaboration reflects the UK’s broader commitment to climate action and its aim to help partner countries implement sustainable energy solutions. By working closely with Lebanon’s energy institutions, the UK seeks to foster innovation, promote policy reforms, and enable investment in renewable energy technologies.
The updated NREAP will act as a cornerstone for Lebanon’s short- and long-term renewable energy objectives, supporting energy resilience, independence, and climate commitments. The plan demonstrates Lebanon’s dedication to achieving a sustainable energy future while creating opportunities for strategic partnerships and effective implementation.
British Ambassador Cowell emphasized that the UK’s technical support is vital for unlocking Lebanon’s energy transition. He highlighted that the NREAP 2025–2030 represents a concrete commitment to the Lebanese people and the environment, equipping the country to overcome obstacles, accelerate its shift to renewable energy, and achieve its climate goals.
