The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (the Lab) has opened its 2026 Call for Ideas, aiming to identify and accelerate eight innovative solutions that can unlock private climate investment in emerging markets. This cycle emphasizes regional programs tailored to address specific financial and climate challenges across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Brazil, India, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Philippines, focusing on mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable food systems.
The application process follows a two-phase structure, beginning with preliminary applications due by November 9, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited in early December to submit a full application. Selected proposals will gain access to a robust support package, including expert guidance, technical assistance, funder mapping, networking opportunities, and pilot implementation support.
In addition to this acceleration support, some eligible climate finance vehicles will qualify for further financial backing through the Lab’s Pre-Seed Capital Facility, which offers conditional grants of up to USD 250,000. These grants are designed to help fast-track the real-world implementation of promising solutions.
To guide applicants, the Lab will host four informational webinars on October 15, tailored for different regions and languages. These sessions will cover the application process, selection criteria, and overall Lab framework, ensuring that potential applicants are well-prepared to participate.
Backed by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the United Nations Development Programme, and the governments of Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom, the Lab continues to play a pivotal role in driving climate finance innovation. Serving as the Secretariat and analytical provider, Climate Policy Initiative supports the Lab’s mission to catalyze billions in private investment for climate action and sustainable development worldwide.
