The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing €25 million to support Tecnocap, a global leader in metal packaging, in implementing green investments aimed at improving energy efficiency and developing renewable energy self-generation at its industrial plants, primarily in Italy and, to a lesser extent, in the Czech Republic. This funding will help accelerate Tecnocap’s transition toward a low-carbon production model and enhance its competitiveness in the packaging sector.
Headquartered in Cava de’ Tirreni, Italy, Tecnocap will use the EIB financing to upgrade production processes and industrial buildings, and to install advanced photovoltaic systems for renewable energy generation and self-consumption. These initiatives align with the European Clean Industrial Deal and REPowerEU objectives, supporting sustainability, energy efficiency, and energy independence. The project is also expected to foster job creation, particularly in cohesion regions, contributing to economic development and the green transition in less-developed areas.
The EIB credit line is structured with a flexible, long-term financial framework to enable gradual implementation in line with Tecnocap’s industrial plan. Banca Finint S.p.A. acted as the arranger for the transaction, facilitating the financing process. EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti highlighted the project as an example of how the bank supports mid-cap companies on their path to decarbonization, strengthening competitiveness and promoting a sustainable industrial economy.
Tecnocap CEO Michelangelo Morlicchio emphasized that the support of leading institutional partners such as the EIB validates the company’s vision of integrating sustainability with operational excellence and competitiveness, enabling advanced transactions to accelerate growth and consolidate long-term performance. Alberto Nobili, Head of Investment Banking Corporate at Banca Finint, added that the financing strengthens the entrepreneurial fabric of Campania and Southern Italy by providing long-term tools for sustainable growth and energy efficiency, supported by key institutions like the European Investment Bank.
