106 Governments Pledge 191 Commitments to Accelerate Beijing Declaration for Women and Girls

Dated: September 19, 2025

In a historic multilateral move, 106 governments from all regions have pledged 191 commitments to advance gender equality and accelerate progress for women and girls by 2030. UN Women launched the Beijing+30 Priority Actions Dashboard to track these voluntary commitments, highlighting that gender equality continues to be a central rallying point for global cooperation.

Sima Bahous, UN Women Executive Director, emphasized that this collective effort reaffirms that gender equality remains a unifying force and demonstrates the ongoing commitment of multilateral institutions to deliver an equal world for women and girls.

A significant portion of the commitments—about one in three—focuses on ending violence against women and girls. Many governments have aligned their pledges with international frameworks such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Sustainable Development Goals. Other commitments target transforming discriminatory social norms, embedding norms-change in education, promoting digital safety, and reforming care systems, recognizing that legal measures alone are insufficient without addressing structural and social inequalities.

Additional commitments include increasing funding for gender equality, strengthening data collection and accountability mechanisms, and collaborating with feminist and women’s rights organizations on issues such as peace, economic justice, climate action, and protection from violence. Many commitments prioritize adolescent girls and young women, framing them as active leaders capable of shaping future generations rather than passive beneficiaries.

The High-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, scheduled for 22 September 2025, will provide a pivotal opportunity for world leaders to act on these pledges. UN Women stresses that political promises must be backed with financial and operational support to ensure lasting equality for women and girls globally.

The Beijing+30 Priority Actions Dashboard serves as a digital platform to make government commitments transparent, track progress in real time, and hold nations accountable. By transforming pledges into measurable outcomes, the dashboard reinforces the vision of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and anchors the final push toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for women and girls worldwide.
