NLSIU Bengaluru Seeks Administrative Assistant for Research

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru has announced an opening for an Administrative Assistant (Research). This full-time position is crucial for supporting the university’s faculty research and publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal approval processes for research activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of project progress, contracts, and expenditures.
  • Implement and manage a systematic project cataloguing system.
  • Update the NLSIU website with information on research projects, centers, and chairs.
  • Manage the microsite for funding applications and calls for proposals.
  • Handle bookings and payments for the research team.
  • Track reporting requirements for various funders and ministries.
  • Provide administrative support for the NLSIU Research Fellowship program.
  • Assist the JSW Center for the Future of Law with scheduling and coordination.
  • Support the Dean (Research) as needed.
  • Manage the calendar for research meetings.

About the Role

The Administrative Assistant (Research) will be an integral part of NLSIU’s research administration team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager (Research). The role involves ensuring the professional management of all research activities and adherence to university procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a graduate degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Essential professional experience includes a minimum of three years (with a bachelor’s degree) or one year (with a postgraduate degree) in administration, management support, or project coordination within government, academic, or non-profit sectors. Demonstrable experience with project management tools and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required. Fluency in spoken and written English is also a prerequisite.

Desired qualifications include a graduate degree in administration or social sciences, prior administrative experience in academic institutions, the ability to multitask, experience with budget documents, and familiarity with ERP systems.

Shortlisted candidates will be subject to a written test and/or interviews, which may be conducted in-person or online.

Compensation and Duration

The position is initially offered for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The monthly salary is competitive, ranging from Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 60,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
