CVS Health® (NYSE: CVS) Foundation has awarded $1 million in general operating grants through its Hometown Fund to 20 Rhode Island-based nonprofit organizations. The funding aims to enhance health care access and support programs that promote overall community well-being, including nutritious food initiatives, supportive housing, and educational resources.
“We created the Hometown Fund to support organizations improving health outcomes in the communities surrounding our corporate offices in Hartford and Woonsocket,” said Sheryl Burke, President of the CVS Health Foundation. “By investing in local nonprofits, we hope to strengthen and positively impact the communities where we live and work.”
Among this year’s grantees is Connecting for Children and Families in Woonsocket. The organization will use the funding to expand services at its Front Street Family Center, providing families with food, basic needs, and case management. “This grant is essential to our work,” said Executive Director Erin Spaulding. “It allows us to go beyond meeting immediate needs and address broader challenges affecting the well-being of families.”
Since 2022, the CVS Health Foundation has invested $8 million in nonprofits across Greater Hartford and Rhode Island. Other 2025 Hometown Fund recipients include Adoption Rhode Island, Amos House, House of Hope Community Development Corporation, Rhode Island Public Health Institute, Sojourner House, and Youth Pride, among others.
The grants reflect CVS Health’s ongoing commitment to community support in Rhode Island. Through initiatives such as Project Health, offering free health screenings, and workforce training at the Workforce Innovation and Talent Center in Woonsocket, the company continues to expand access to health services and strengthen local programs.
