DKT International, a leading global provider of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) products and services, has announced it is doubling its financial commitment to the Family Planning 2030 (FP2030) partnership. The organization now pledges $2 billion in support by 2030, up from its initial $1 billion commitment made in 2021. This renewed pledge comes amidst a concerning global decline in donor funding for reproductive health, including the closure of key funding sources such as USAID’s reproductive health programs.
In its original commitment, DKT aimed to invest $1 billion in discretionary resources—primarily for procuring contraceptives—and to generate 400 million non-abortion Couple Years of Protection (CYPs) across more than 90 countries. Within just four years, DKT has already delivered $934 million, achieving 93% of its initial financial goal and generating 184.3 million CYPs, nearly half of its target.
Chris Purdy, CEO of DKT International, emphasized the urgent need for sustained investment in family planning amidst the current funding crisis. He affirmed that by doubling its pledge, DKT aims to safeguard access to affordable and reliable contraception, particularly in vulnerable and underserved communities.
Samukeliso Dube, Executive Director of FP2030, applauded DKT’s bold leadership and expanded support. She noted that such decisive action is crucial for unlocking the transformative potential of family planning and upholding sexual and reproductive health rights, particularly during a time when many global programs face financial uncertainty.
DKT’s expanded financial pledge is not only a response to funding shortfalls but also a reaffirmation of its mission to advance FP2030 goals. These include widening contraceptive access, strengthening health systems, and ensuring reproductive rights are upheld. Leveraging its extensive global distribution networks, creative social marketing strategies, and educational outreach to both providers and consumers, DKT remains a driving force in reshaping family planning services across more than 90 countries.
