Community organisations in Mansfield are being invited to submit projects for a new round of government funding aimed at regenerating towns and neighbourhoods through long-term, community-led initiatives. The programme will be delivered locally by Mansfield Place Board and Mansfield District Council as part of the government’s 10-year Plan for Neighbourhoods (PfN), which is designed to support sustainable growth and community development. Applications are open to local groups, voluntary organisations, businesses, educational institutions, cultural and heritage bodies, and public sector partners, with a submission deadline of 5pm on Friday 26 September 2025.
Mansfield is one of 75 areas selected to receive funding from the PfN programme, which totals £1.5 billion nationally. Each area can receive up to £20 million, with the local boards responsible for evaluating and selecting the projects. Projects should align with the council’s Make it in Mansfield (MiiM) strategy, which outlines a vision for growth, opportunity, and inclusion, and support the PfN objectives of creating thriving places, building stronger communities, and enabling local people to take control of their area’s future. Funding will focus on eligible neighbourhoods, including the urban area of Mansfield, Forest Town, and Mansfield Woodhouse.
Potential projects cover a broad range of areas, including regeneration, high streets, heritage, green spaces, energy efficiency, decarbonisation, flood prevention, arts, culture, creative activities, tourism, housing modernization, rough sleeping interventions, employment and skills initiatives, business support, community cohesion, volunteering, social action, health and wellbeing, and transport improvements. Executive Mayor Andy Abrahams highlighted the opportunity for community organisations to drive positive change in their neighbourhoods, while emphasizing that the project selection process will be robust, transparent, and closely monitored to ensure value for money.
Andrew Cropley, chair of Mansfield Place Board, encouraged communities to propose ambitious projects that align with the Make it in Mansfield strategy and deliver tangible benefits for local prosperity and well-being. Projects will be assessed across four categories: strategic fit with the MiiM commitments, responsiveness to community priorities and engagement, deliverability and risk management, and value for money, including potential match funding.
