The DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund 2025-27 has launched a new round of funding worth £4 million, with all funds required to be spent by March 2027. For over two decades, DCMS and the Wolfson Foundation have partnered to provide grants that help museums enhance displays, improve collections care, and make exhibitions more accessible to the public.
Applications are now open for capital projects at eligible organisations, with a deadline of 14 November 2025. Grants of up to £400,000 are available, and submitted projects must meet at least one of the following criteria: material improvements to the display and interpretation of collections in permanent galleries, exhibition spaces, or public areas to enhance visitor experience; enhancements to access or interpretation for visitors with disabilities, children, young people, or underrepresented audiences; or improvements to environmental controls, collections storage, and conservation facilities to strengthen the care of collections.
Eligible applicants include accredited museums, museum services, and galleries in England, including museums and university collections with at least one Designated collection, as well as current Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations. The fund aims to support capital projects that increase public access, improve visitor experience, and preserve collections for future generations.
