Young green entrepreneurs in Marondera district in Zimbabwe, who were previously supported by FAO under the Green Jobs for Rural Youth Employment Project implemented in 2020–2024, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), are undertaking a look-and-learn event to showcase and share experiences. Youths are leading the organisation od the event with support from their mentors.
Under the project, technical mentorship was provided by Extension Officers from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, alongside business mentorship from District Officers of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development. These mentors have continued to support the youths beyond the project’s lifespan, enabling their rural-based, youth-led green agribusinesses to thrive, remain profitable, and independently organize events like this one.
Many of these youths have also become active members of the World Food Forum Zimbabwe Youth Chapter, where they continue to exchange knowledge and experiences with peers, contributing to the development of a more transformative, efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood system.
This event, hosted by Ease and Green Private Limited, offers rural youth a unique platform to connect, collaborate, and grow. It empowers them with practical knowledge, strengthens their role in agrifood systems, and builds networks that drive youth-led innovation across Marondera District and beyond.
Youth in green entrepreneurship are key drivers of climate-smart solutions in rural economies. This event empowers young people to explore new ideas, discover emerging opportunities, and unlock their business potential. By gathering in Ward 19 Marondera District, we affirm our commitment to building an inclusive green economy that values rural innovation, strengthens local food systems, and places youth at the centre of sustainable development.
