The Boston Partnership Fund has awarded over £140,000 to community-focused projects across the Borough, supporting initiatives that strengthen cohesion, integration, and services for local residents, including Eastern European communities. The grants form part of a larger £710,000 funding package allocated to community organisations by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Several organisations have benefited from the fund. Centrepoint Outreach in Boston received support to refurbish its facilities, including new furniture and IT equipment. Boston Foodbank will use its grant to develop outdoor community spaces, improve the courtyard, add a sheltered waiting area, and upgrade IT and CCTV systems while recruiting and training volunteers. Haven Domestic Abuse Service Charity secured funding for a new minibus to serve its clients, and the Polish Support Initiative is establishing a new community hub in a historic town centre building. The Boston Lithuanian Group received resources for equipment, materials, and improvements to its premises, while Tonic Health will enhance the Grade II Listed Pescod Hall and Youth Hub with interior upgrades and new equipment accessible to all young people in the Borough.
In addition, the Fenside Community Centre was awarded £25,300 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support building refurbishment led by local young people aged 16 to 25 not in education, employment, or training. Under the Volunteer it Yourself initiative, participants will carry out painting, repairs, and outdoor improvements, guided by professional tradespeople, and earn City & Guilds Entry Level 3 qualifications upon completion.
Councillor Sandeep Ghosh, Portfolio Holder for Finance, highlighted the significance of these investments, emphasizing that the funding will enable organisations to continue their vital work while enhancing local facilities. He noted that these projects not only strengthen community connections but also create welcoming spaces for residents and visitors, contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and attractive Borough.
