Martin Charitable Trust, led by Mr. Jose Charles Martin, Managing Director of Martin Group of Companies, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rotary International at the LEAD 25 – Rotary India Leadership Conclave held at the New Chennai Trade Centre. The agreement, signed in the presence of key Tamil Nadu officials including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, aims to expand the Miyawaki Forest Initiative across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing community well-being.
The collaboration builds on Martin Group’s previous success in Mettupalayam, where a 7,000 sq. ft. Miyawaki forest with 1,500 native trees was developed, serving as a model for sustainable corporate social responsibility. Mr. Jose Charles Martin emphasized that the initiative goes beyond tree planting, highlighting its role in fostering biodiversity, long-term sustainability, and healthier communities for future generations.
The MoU signing also highlighted the involvement of prominent Rotary leaders, including Francesco Arezzo, President of Rotary International (2025-26), and Directors Rtn. AKS Er. Muruganandam M and Rtn. AKS Fit Lt. KP Nagesh. In recognition of his commitment to humanitarian service and sustainability, Mr. Martin was inducted as an Honorary Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Madras North.
