Kyndryl Announces $2.25 Billion Investment Plan to Expand Operations in India Over Three Years

Dated: August 22, 2025

Kyndryl, a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, has announced plans to invest $2.25 billion in India over the next three years. The investment aims to modernize essential technology infrastructure, expand artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, and foster the development of the next generation of technology talent in the country. This growth builds on Kyndryl’s existing operations in India and aligns with the company’s commitment to innovation, workforce development, and community partnerships.

The company serves a wide range of India’s leading organizations across sectors, including banking, healthcare, transportation, and government institutions. Kyndryl is focusing on strategic areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and hybrid IT modernization to contribute to India’s digital public infrastructure goals and long-term economic development. The initiative is expected to support the country’s ongoing digital transformation and enhance business operations across multiple industries.

As part of its investment, Kyndryl is establishing an AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru. The Lab will bring together data scientists, consultants, and technology professionals to co-create AI-driven solutions for businesses. This facility will focus on advanced skills in AI, data analytics, cloud computing, software engineering, and platform technologies, mirroring similar AI labs Kyndryl operates in the UK and Singapore. The Bengaluru Lab will also lead initiatives aligned with the INDIAai Mission, demonstrating AI applications in governance, critical infrastructure, and cyber resilience, culminating in the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.

Kyndryl is deepening collaboration with the Government of India to drive AI-led transformation in governance. A Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry under the Ease of Doing Business initiative will showcase how Kyndryl’s AI platform, Kyndryl Bridge, can support regulatory reform and efficiency in public services. This partnership highlights the company’s commitment to integrating AI into India’s national digital agenda.

The investment also emphasizes talent development and digital skilling. Kyndryl plans to expand its presence to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, partner with graduate schools and research centers, and launch early career programs to nurture high-potential talent. The company aims to upskill employees in AI, cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies, responding to the rising demand for advanced digital skills in India. Recent research indicates India leads globally in AI workforce readiness, with 37% of business leaders confident in their teams’ AI adoption capabilities.

Through its social impact initiatives, Kyndryl plans to train 200,000 beneficiaries across India via the Kyndryl Skilling program. This initiative will provide courses in DevSecOps, Cloud Operations, and Resilient Systems and will be integrated with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) portal. In addition, the Kyndryl Foundation has supported a new cybersecurity skilling facility in Mumbai, in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India, aimed at creating career opportunities for underserved youth.
