On 20 August 2025, the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities will host a webinar titled “Digital Learning in the City: Leveraging AI for Inclusive Learning” as part of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning’s global webinar series, “Unlocking the Power of Lifelong Learning”. This series brings together stakeholders from around the world on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The upcoming session will explore how digital technologies and artificial intelligence can transform urban education by making learning more personalized, accessible, and effective for diverse groups, including students, professionals, and marginalized communities. By breaking down barriers to education, these tools have the potential to create more inclusive and adaptable learning opportunities in cities.
The discussion will highlight innovative ways in which AI and digital learning are being applied within urban environments to improve access to education and enhance learning experiences. Speakers will present real-world examples of how these technologies are fostering lifelong learning and will share strategies for expanding their integration into city-based education systems.
The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities includes 356 cities across 79 countries, representing a population of 390 million. These cities link education, training, and cultural institutions, while working with governments, civil society, and employers to promote inclusive, quality learning at all levels. They support education in workplaces and communities, encourage family learning, and expand the use of modern learning technologies. The network’s activities contribute to the implementation of the Marrakech Framework for Action, which recognizes cities as key to building learning societies.
