South African startup Flood has successfully raised $2.5 million in seed funding to accelerate the growth of its “SuperApp-as-a-Service” platform, which aims to digitize offline retail across emerging markets. Founded by André de Wet, Flood offers a no-code, API-based commerce platform tailored for telcos, banks, and enterprises. This platform supports marketplace models covering products, services, payments, and logistics, enabling partners to build integrated digital ecosystems.
Flood’s technology allows these partners to embed commerce, loyalty, and payment features directly into apps already popular among consumers. The platform includes capabilities such as merchant onboarding, loyalty program management, discovery tools, real-time analytics, and options for in-store pickup. Flood has already gained traction in South Africa, India, and the Maldives and plans to expand to additional markets later this year.
This latest funding round builds on a previous $1 million seed investment raised in July 2024. The newly acquired capital will be used to speed up Flood’s expansion, strengthen partnerships with telecom and banking sectors, and onboard thousands of offline merchants, enhancing access to digital commerce in emerging markets.
