The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have announced the availability of over $100 million in grant funding aimed at enhancing cybersecurity across communities. This funding opportunity consists of two separate grants designed to support different government levels in improving their cyber defense capabilities.
The Fiscal Year 2025 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) allocates $91.7 million to state and local governments. These funds can be used for a variety of cybersecurity initiatives, including planning and conducting exercises, hiring cybersecurity experts, and enhancing services for local citizens. In parallel, the Tribal Cybersecurity Grant Program (TCGP) offers $12.1 million to tribal governments to support similar cybersecurity improvements tailored to their unique needs.
CISA Acting Director Madhu Gottumukkala emphasized that this grant funding is crucial for communities and partners nationwide to bolster their cyber defense and reduce risks. The initiative reflects a unified Department of Homeland Security (DHS) strategy to empower state, local, and tribal governments to create more resilient digital infrastructures. By investing in these communities, the agencies aim to protect critical services while ensuring responsible use of taxpayer resources.
