The Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) has opened the Call for Proposals for the second phase of the EU Water Operators’ Partnerships (EU-WOP) Programme. This initiative, funded by the European Union and managed by GWOPA under UN-Habitat, is designed to enhance the capacity of public water and sanitation utilities through peer-to-peer learning and collaboration.
EU-WOP 2 builds on the successes of Phase 1, which began in 2020, and aims to support 15–20 new utility partnerships while expanding high-impact ones from the previous phase. The programme will run until 2030 and will focus on integrating digital innovation, linking utilities to investment opportunities, and improving services through a human rights-based approach.
The European Union serves as the sole funder of the programme, underscoring its commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive access to water and sanitation services globally. Public utilities from eligible countries that are looking to improve their own performance and support peer utilities are encouraged to submit proposals.
