The upcoming Resilience Investment Foresight Sprint offers an opportunity for students, academics, and professionals to collaboratively shape national foresight scenarios that influence strategic resilience investments and help reduce disaster risk. This initiative aims to generate innovative and actionable pathways that can inform national disaster risk management, climate policies, development planning, and investment strategies. Selected scenarios will be publicly shared on PreventionWeb, providing visibility and policy impact.
Participants will have the chance to collaborate with experts and peers across disciplines, contributing to knowledge exchange and solution development in resilience investment. The sprint targets a wide range of participants, including students in disaster risk management, development, risk communication, civil engineering, health, agriculture, and related fields, as well as professors willing to lead student teams in their universities.
The timeline begins in July 2025 with invitations sent to universities in the UNDRR and UNU networks, followed by team selection by late August. By early September, participating universities will receive welcome packs, and teams will begin identifying risk themes and collecting relevant national and local data. A virtual welcome session is scheduled for 20 September, kicking off the sprint period, which runs until 6 October. Final scenario submissions will be shared on 13 October, contributing to global resilience-building efforts.
