The scheme to support Long Established Young Farmers, also known as Forgotten Farmers, officially opened for online applications on 22 July 2025, following a survey conducted in May 2025. The application window will remain open until 5:30 PM on 13 August 2025.
A total of €5 million was allocated for this support measure in Budget 2025. The funding is intended to address long-standing gaps in previous agricultural support programs.
This group of farmers is defined as individuals who were under the age of 40 in 2015, began their agricultural careers before 2008, and were ineligible for Young Farmer Installation Aid and related Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) supports introduced in 2015 due to the early start date of their farming activities.
