The African Development Bank Group has approved a €100 million loan to support Morocco’s inclusive solidarity-based agriculture program, with a strong focus on empowering women and youth. This initiative aims to create sustainable economic opportunities, enhance food security, and improve the resilience of small-scale farming in the face of climate change.
The program will promote entrepreneurship by offering targeted financial incentives and strengthening both technical and financial support systems. It seeks to develop agricultural production and service infrastructure that will integrate women into local value chains, enhance their skills, and increase their productivity, particularly in areas such as agriculture, agro-processing, and digital technologies.
This effort aligns with Morocco’s broader development strategies, including the Green Generation 2020–2030 Strategy, the National Solidarity Agriculture Program, and the National Youth Entrepreneurship Program. These frameworks aim to transform the agricultural sector into a more inclusive, sustainable, and efficient economic engine.
The project is part of the African Development Bank Group’s longstanding partnership with Morocco, which spans over five decades. During this time, the Bank has invested nearly €15 billion across more than 150 high-impact projects in key sectors such as transport, energy, water, agriculture, social protection, governance, and finance.
