As the nonprofit sector in the Quad Cities continues to grow, the need for strategic and timely support becomes increasingly important. To address this, the Quad Cities Community Foundation launched the Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants program, which is designed to strengthen the systems, skills, and structures of local organizations. In its latest funding round, the program has awarded $171,218 to ten nonprofits. This round of grants was bolstered by more than $38,000 in contributions from donors via the Community Foundation’s grant catalog.
The 2025 grant recipients reflect a wide range of service areas including the arts, public health, education, animal welfare, and social services. Their projects aim to enhance operational effectiveness through efforts such as strategic planning, leadership development, technology upgrades, and improved governance. These capacity-building initiatives are intended to position each organization for long-term sustainability and increased community impact.
Among the funded projects are technology and data management improvements, new program development, consulting support for strategic planning and fundraising, and innovation to enhance independence for individuals with disabilities. Each grant supports a tailored initiative intended to help the respective nonprofit better fulfill its mission and serve the Quad Cities community more effectively.
The grants were awarded from the Quad Cities Community Impact Fund, a permanent endowment supported by donors from across the region. This fund enables flexible and responsive grantmaking to meet evolving community needs. Additionally, several other charitable endowment funds supported this round of capacity-building grants, underscoring the community’s broad commitment to strengthening local nonprofit infrastructure.
