UNESCO, through its ESD-Net 2030 initiative, is organizing a webinar series to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration around Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). As part of this effort, a dedicated webinar will address the growing need to integrate sustainable development principles into Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). The session aims to present the latest research findings and highlight innovative practices from various global regions that are advancing sustainability in early learning environments.
The webinar will focus on bridging gaps in existing educational practices by showcasing creative approaches and promising solutions that promote sustainability from an early age. It will delve into the core competencies, pedagogical strategies, and supportive conditions necessary to effectively incorporate ESD into ECCE systems.
In addition, the session will provide an open forum to examine both the opportunities and challenges faced in promoting sustainability within early childhood education. Participants will engage with practical case studies and reflect on how these models can be adapted to their local contexts to enhance the impact of ESD in early learning.
Among the key objectives of the webinar are raising awareness of the vital role ECCE plays in advancing sustainable development and highlighting successful examples and case studies that demonstrate effective integration of ESD into early education.
