CII Foundation and HDFC Bank Lead Crop Residue Management Efforts in Punjab

Dated: May 22, 2025

CII Foundation and HDFC Bank Host Interactive Session on Crop Residue Management

The CII Foundation, in collaboration with HDFC Bank, recently organized an engaging session for volunteers from Punjab and Haryana in Majhi Village, Sangrur, Punjab. This initiative aimed to strengthen grassroots efforts under the Crop Residue Management project, which is crucial for promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

During the session, participants were equipped with knowledge and tools to address the challenges posed by crop residue burning. This practice has been a significant environmental concern, contributing to air pollution and adverse health effects. The event provided a platform for volunteers to discuss effective strategies for managing crop residues and promoting alternatives to burning.

The interactive nature of the session allowed for a rich exchange of ideas and experiences among the volunteers. Experts shared insights on innovative techniques and technologies that could help farmers manage their crop residues more effectively. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, promoting a better understanding of the practical applications of the information discussed.

The collaboration between CII Foundation and HDFC Bank underscores the importance of partnership in addressing pressing agricultural issues. By working together, they aim to empower local communities and enhance their capacity to implement sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local economies.

This initiative is a vital step towards fostering a culture of responsible agricultural practices in Punjab and Haryana. As more volunteers become involved, their efforts will contribute to a healthier ecosystem and a more sustainable future for agriculture in the region. The commitment of these volunteers highlights the power of community action in driving change and improving environmental outcomes.

In conclusion, the interactive session in Majhi Village serves as a reminder of the significant role that grassroots movements play in tackling environmental challenges. The engagement and enthusiasm demonstrated by the volunteers exemplify the potential for positive change when communities come together with a shared vision for sustainability.
