Submissions open for Queer Screen Completion Fund (Australia)

Queer Screen strives to support LGBTIQ+ filmmakers through grants, awards and programs. Queer filmmakers reflect the diversity of their communities and tell stories that directly reflect their lives and struggles.

Funding Information

• Queer Screen will provide grants of up to $10,000 for any one project.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be Australian citizens.
• The Director or Producer must be an Australian Citizen.
• A key member of the creative team (Director/Writer/Producer) must be a member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
• Applicants must act in good faith at all times and be honest in all dealings with Queer Screen and not intentionally mislead the organisation.
• Applicants must keep Queer Screen apprised of any significant changes to the project.
• Queer Screen will require a single card credit with Queer Screen logo in credits.
• Courtesy consultation during final edit stages.
• Queer Screen will have the option of one public screening of the project once completed with no screening fee or box office split payable.
• EPK including production stills & posters for publicity for archive purposes.

Application Requirements

• They will consider applications for finishing and/or marketing funds for:
  • Feature films 70 minutes or over,
  • Documentaries 60 minutes or over (noting that alternate length edits for other purposes – e.g. TV broadcast, educational resources – are permitted), and
  • Web series running 35-120 minutes.
• Which currently:
  • Are in need of finishing, marketing or accessibility inclusion funds.
  • Have already completed the development and production (at least 80%) phase and are in post-production stage,
  • Are either finished or viewable as an off-line edit,
  • Will not have had an Australian or world premiere (in person, broadcast or online).
• Along with an application producers must also submit the following application materials:
  • Complete application form
  • Full synopsis
  • Copies of broadcaster license/distribution agreements/sales deal memos if available
  • Summary budget (1 page)
  • Summary production schedule (1 page)
  • Finance plan
  • Main cast and creative team bios
  • Chain of title summary (who owns rights to material)
