Join global leaders at the virtual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Hosted by Masdar, ADSW 2021 will explore through a series of high-level virtual events the social, economic, and technological opportunities to achieve a ‘green recovery’ post-COVID-19.
ADSW is a global platform for accelerating the world’s sustainable development. The week brings together a unique fusion of policymakers, industry specialists, technology pioneers, and the next generation of sustainability leaders.
The critical importance of sustainability has been further reinforced during the pandemic. While this year has taught us how truly fragile our world can be, it has also demonstrated the power we possess, when working together, to overcome global challenges.
The virtual ADSW Summit will bring together leaders from policy, business and technology to define new pathways for delivering a green recovery in a post COVID-19 world.
Taking place across three two-hour sessions, the Summit will centralize around three pillars – Live & Move, Care & Engage, Work & Invest. Each pillar will allow participants and audiences to explore topics that will reimage sustainable development and open up social, economic and technological opportunities for delivering a green recovery.
Through its initiatives and events, ADSW is a catalyst for sharing knowledge, implementing strategies, and delivering solutions to drive human progress. ADSW is committed to furthering our understanding of the major social, economic, and environmental trends shaping the world’s sustainable development.
As the anchor event of ADSW, the virtual Summit will allow participants to:
- Hear from global decision makers on delivering a green recovery in a post-COVID-19 world;
- Learn how technology is accelerating sustainable development through Artificial Intelligence, energy transformation and resource management;
- Network virtually with sustainability leaders from across the world;
- Understand how our industry is adapting to global challenges;
- Identify opportunities for business growth.
Alongside its health impact, the pandemic has heavily affected the global economy, with the International Monetary Fund estimating it could cost as much as US$28 trillion in lost output. Governments around the world are being urged to align their recovery efforts with sustainable development initiatives – the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has estimated that doubling annual global energy transition investments to US$2 trillion over the next three years would boost global GDP by 1 percent.
For over a decade, Abu Dhabi has provided a sustainable platform for the global community that has grown through its initiatives and events to emerge as a thought leader and catalyst that accelerates sustainable development around the world.
ADSW 2020 welcomed 45,000 attendees from over 170 countries, including the UAE’s leadership, 10 heads of state, 180 international ministers, and over 500 representatives from the world’s media.
